From the Slopes to the Soccer Field

Now that we’ve moved into the spring/summer season, my love for sports has continued onto the soccer field. During the spring and summer I play soccer for a local club in Pittsford and I play school soccer in the fall. I’ve been

playing soccer since I was 5, first playing for our local town recreational program, then moving into the competitive travel league.  When I was in 7th grade, I played on the modified high school team and as an 8th grader; I made my high school Junior Varsity team.  Due to my knee injury last March, I was off the soccer field for 9 months.  I am now back and excited to be playing again.

My team practices two times per week and we have just started playing our scheduled league games and tournaments.  Usually I play midfield or forward during games. The teams we play against are mainly in the Rochester area, however we do sometimes travel out of state and to Canada to play in tournaments.  I enjoy soccer because it helps me to work on my speed and agility on the ground, things that you don’t normally associate with all skiing.

Training for the soccer season helps me to improve my agility and speed, which overall will help me to prepare for next ski season. Soccer will also help me to improve my endurance. It’s been great being able to hangout with all my teammates again and I am glad to be back!
